Hamburg Sud plans to add a southbound call at Valencia on its southern route of its northwest Europe-west Mediterranean-Near East service through the introduction of a fifth vessel on the loop to ensure weekly fixed day calls, reports AXS-Alphaliner News.
The additional ship will be the 1,742-TEU Santa Monica with weekly capacity of 1,680 TEU with the Valencia call offering linkage to South America.
Also, a new weekly feeder link from Valencia to Tunis, synchronised with the southern route service, will commence soon, allowing Hamburg Sud to drop its direct Irish Sea-Antwerp-Tunis-Salerno service.
Tunis will then benefit of a weekly connection via feeder with Salerno also covered by the southern route service.
