The Panama Canal Authority said it will on Feb. 1 implement its new, more efficient reservation system for vessels transiting the canal.
Canal officials said the system, the result of consultations with ocean carriers since October, will offer customers more flexibility and will simplify charges.
Changes include an adjustment to offer an option for more booking slots for large vessels. The ACP will offer two additional booking slots for super vessels with a beam of at least 91 feet during the "first period," which runs from a full year before a transit to 22 days before a transit.
Booking fees will be fixed, based on a vessel's size and dimensions. |
