Shekou Container Terminal (SCT) was given the 2006 to 2007 China's Top 10 Container Terminal award on the recently held China Ports & Harbours Association Container Branch Conference.

This is the fourth consecutive year since 2003 that SCT was awarded the same title. The award evaluation was based on annual container throughput volume.

SCT currently has seven berths for sixth-generation mega containerships and an annual capacity of 4.5 million TEU. It is operating 65 lines to major ports in Americas, Europe, Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, north Asia, Middle East and Australia.

The No 8 and No 9 berth of the SCT are under construction and expected to be operational at the close of 2009 when SCT's annual capacity will be six million TEU.
