COSCO and China Shipping plan to expand container terminal capacity in Italy's ports of Naples and Genoa as well as increasing activity on the Adriatic coast, reports UK's Portworld web site.
The plan calls for the construction of a 350,000-TEU capacity terminal in Naples through a joint venture with the Italy's Fratelli Cosulich SpA.
Cosco has also joined Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) to build a US$13 million Levante Dock in Naples.
China Shipping will take over the management of the old Conatec dock after Cosco's departure to the new Levante facility when its construction is completed.
