The International Trade Center in the UTSA Institute for Economic Development will partner with the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) to hold an export control training May 21-22 in San Antonio at the Tropicana Hotel, 110 Lexington Ave.

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) is a program of the U.S. Commercial Service that works to advance national security, foreign policy and economic objectives by ensuring an effective export control and treaty compliance system and promoting continued U.S. strategic technology leadership.

The first day of training will address the "Essentials of Exporting" and will cover the key information needed to comply with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Counselors and other professionals from the Bureau of Industry and Security will cover the major elements of the U.S. export control system for commercial exports.

The second day will focus on "Export Control Reform Regulations" and will feature an in-depth look at revisions to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) by the President's Export Control Reform (ECR) Initiative, Department of Commerce and Department of State.
