SELANGOR DARUL EHSAN, April 3 (Xinhuanet) --- All the procedures concerning the handover of business facilities were finished in the Office Building of the International Trade and Halal Industry Development Center of Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), Malaysia, April 3, 2014, ushering the official operation phase of these programs.
In the afternoon of April 3, the Handover Agreement of all the business facilities in the PKFZ was signed between Xie Guanlong, Chief Executive Officer of PKFZ and Xia Baowen, president of Malaysia International Wholesale (China) Centre. It signalizes the official operation of a grand plan, aiming at developing the PKFZ into the most influential new-style international trade and industry development center in Asia. The PKFZ was jointly developed by China and Malaysia and mainly invested and operated by China.
Xia Baowen said after the signing ceremony that this agreement was a major event over the development of PFKZ and a product by the governments and entrepreneuses from both China and Malaysia. He said, in line with the development plan, the PKFZ International Trade and Halal Industry Development Center would become the regional logistic center, international procurement center and the global distributing center for Muslim goods.
Xia Baowen also said the total trade volume between China and Malaysia last year exceeded 100 billion U.S. dollars, rendering Malaysia China's largest trade partner in ASEAN countries and China's sixth largest trade partner in the world.
During Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Malaysia last year, agreement was reached to expand the trade volume to over 160 billion U.S. dollars by 2017 between the two countries, thus leaving greater cooperation room for their enterprises.
Applying Malaysia's investment edges, the PKFZ International Trade and Halal Industry Development Center would grasp this historical opportunity and, together with China's enteritises, will become the most profitable center in the China-Malaysia trade history.
Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) is a state-grade free trade zone of Malaysia, covering over 1,000 acres. The PKFZ International Trade and Halal Industry Development Center was founded by the Malaysian government, aiming at the grand development of global Muslim market and building up a super-sized and the most characteristic international free trade and economic zone in the world.
