Envirotainer has received full approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the most sought after electrical heating and compressor cooling air cargo container on the market, the RKN e1.
The approval will enable US-based airlines, and any other airline regulated by the FAA, to carry the container onboard their aircraft.
Swedish-based Upplands has acquired necessary certifications from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and other country specific regulatory bodies to add to the FAA approval.
Once the RKN e1 container is released into the market as FAA approved, mandatory placards will be mounted on the container.
"This marks an important step in Envirotainer's strive to offer all potential customers a heating and cooling container in the temperature controlled supply chain, as well as the flexibility to chose their preferred carrier," said its chief executive officer Simon Angeldorff in a company release.
The company has also prepared and taken the necessary actions to enable a timely progress of the technical acceptance processes for our FAA regulated airline partners.
Our current estimate is that all major approvals and processes should be in place within a two to six month period with the RKN e1 container expected to be made available on the market within the same timeframe, it added.
Envirotainer will invest heavily into fleet expansion and its brand new, state of the art R&D and production facility outside Stockholm to support production of RKN e1 containers currently running at a doubled speed in comparison to that of previous years.
