Alabama's Huntsville airport traffic jumps back in June

Huntsville International Airport has experienced an strong month in passenger traffic while cargo continued to remain on the weaker side, according to Shipping Gazette.
Its passenger traffic up 5.9 per cent from June 2013 in a year-to-date traffic increase of three per cent.
Passenger volumes continue to be 5.13 per cent below budget projections for the fiscal 2014 ended June 30, said the airport's executive director Rick Tucker in a report from The Huntsville Times, Alabama.
The rail cargo traffic declined in June marginally at 0.2 per cent which resulted in 2014 totals increase of 1.2 per cent year on year. Air cargo landings weights declined in May at 3.3 per cent while air cargo freight weights were down further at 5.4 per cent.
The airport board approved the authorisation of a five-year lease renewal agreement with parcel giant UPS, that has been leasing 696-square-metre at the airport's Bay E since 2011.
"I think on the big picture, things are looking good, and we hope that trend will continue," Mr Tucker said to the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority, following recent moves to promote its air service to carriers' including Buzz Airways, Allegiant Air, Southwest, JetBlue, American Airlines and Delta.
