Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific Services Limited (CPSL) has been appointed as the handling agent for AirAsia's cargo operations and documentation at the airline's cargo terminal at the city's international airport, according to Shipping Gazette.
Operations have been running smoothly since CPSL began providing services for AirAsia in mid-May, a company statement said.
"We are fastidious about cost efficiency and competency, and are glad to find a compatible partner like CPSL, which recognises our operational needs and has a good understanding of our business model," said AirAsia CEO Aireen Omar.
"We challenge the perception that low cost carriers (LCCs) are unsuitable for cargo. With CPSL on board, we look forward to quashing that and changing the face of the cargo industry," she said.
Said CPSL chief executive Algernon Yau: "It is our goal to raise overall industry standards and support the growth of all customer airlines using the terminal's services."
